Weeks ago, I want to try the Google’s AMP services, I installed AMP plugins AMP for WP – Accelerated Mobile Pages from WordPress.org, after several  days, I found my page views and earnings drop a lot, then I think there are may some problems with the AMP plugin. I disabled the amp plugin and found the traffic and the earning didn’t grow, what’s wrong?

I checked the traffic from the statcounter.com, found a lot pages were added /amp/ at the end of the url, then I clicked the pages, found that all the posts with /amp/ were became 404 pages! Oh my god!

I tried to solved this problem, searching on google, require support from the WordPress forums, no results.

Today, I solved the problem, all the pages with /amp/ in the url no longer got 404 errors now, still I don’t know why these pages no longer got 404 errors, I just do these steps, hope these can help you.

  1.  Go wp-admin/options-permalink.php, re-save your permalink.
  2.  Install the wordpress plugin Better AMP – WordPress Complete AMP, activated it.
  3.  Install plugin Glue for Yoast SEO & AMP, activated it.
  4.  Important! Don’t go wp-admin/options-permalink.php, and re-save your permalink again (or you will get 404 errors again)!
  5.  You may find that all your 404 error gone!
  6.  Deactivated the 2 plugins!
  7.  Everything goes smoothly now.

Have you solved the problems?

I think there are some problems with the plugin AMP for WP – Accelerated Mobile Pages, if I disable this plugin, all the posts with /amp/ at the end of the url will get 404 errors.

But the new amp plugin,  Better AMP – WordPress Complete AMP, who add the /amp/ after the domain, just like dobeweb.com/amp/your-post-url, not like the other one add /amp at the end of the url like dobeweb.com/your-post-url/amp

In short, if you install the plugin AMP for WP – Accelerated Mobile Pages and Deactivate it, you may got 404 errors,

Better AMP – WordPress Complete AMP will help you change the url! Active the Better AMP – WordPress Complete AMP and Deactivate it, you will no longer get 404 errors. That’s it. After you Deactivate the Better AMP – WordPress Complete AMP , please don’t resave your permalinks, or you will get 404 again, and you need to the steps again. lol
